Forgiveness vs. Unforgiveness
Today I want to help encourage someone with the struggle of forgiveness vs. unforgiveness. I want you to know this is something I struggle with in my walk with Christ. Forgiveness although it is not easy it’s the only right thing to do. Hear me out it frees you from the pain that someone or something tried to cause you.
Let us take an inflated balloon for example, imagine tying a ribbon to the balloon and releasing it into the air something about that moment after letting it go becomes so freeing. That is exactly how forgiveness feels it is so freeing just like the balloon goes up when released. You too will go up in a sense where you have more peace and more joy within, when you release the pain.
However, on the opposite side have you ever held onto a balloon and as the days go by you notice even with a ribbon attached eventually the balloon begins to deflate more and more each day and sooner or later it hits the ground. That is exactly what happens to us when we walk in unforgiveness amazing people we eventually hit the ground. Unforgiveness takes away something from you internally although its not always evident, just like the balloon is slowly losing air which is causing it to deflate you too are losing pieces of you daily, you are being robbed of joy and its being replaced with the lingering hurt which turns to anger and that leads to the ugly root of bitterness. Do not let this be you; just let go.
One quick side note please understand in no wise are you being told to dismiss what was done to you. Because no one knows the pain you have experienced from the harm someone or something caused you. However, I encourage you today to do exactly what Jesus did in (NKJV Luke 23:33-34) And when they had come to the place called Calvary there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (This is so beautiful—they had no idea what they were doing when they came up against you) This has just blessed my life and my prayer is that it will do the same for you.
